00/hr Primary Responsibility:
To sort recycling and refuse on the line; General labor as needed around the facility.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Material Sorting:
Sort and segregate incoming recyclable materials on the conveyor belt.
Identify and separate different types of materials such as paper, plastic, glass, and metal.
Quality Control:
Inspect materials for contaminants and remove non-recyclable items.
Ensure that only clean and acceptable materials proceed through the sorting process.
Maintaining Workflow:
Keep the conveyor belt and sorting area clear of obstructions.
Assist in maintaining a steady and efficient flow of materials through the sorting line.
Equipment Operation:
Operate and control machinery such as conveyor belts, shakers, and separators.
Monitor equipment for malfunctions and report any issues to supervisors.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other line sorters to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Training and Development:
Participate in training sessions to stay informed about new materials and sorting techniques.
Share knowledge and tips with team members for continuous improvement.
Requirements Must be willing to work Monday through Friday, and occasionally a Saturday.
Able to recognize unacceptable waste (such as gasoline and other flammable, hazardous materials) and report it to management.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly during a shift.
Physically capable of walking, jogging, bending, climbing, lifting, carrying heavy items if necessary.
Sufficient stamina for a steady work pace throughout an entire shift.
Works outdoors in all weather conditions and wears appropriate clothing for the season.
Must be willing to be on time and maintain good working attendance.
