JOB SUMMARY: This individual maintains communication with the ABE/HSC teachers, volunteers and staff. Serves on ABE/HSC/ELL Advisory Board. Assists in locating, interviewing, supervising, and evaluating regular part time ABE/HSC staff. Maintains good communication with Director, by providing information about ABE/HSC current trends and practices, in addition to concerns, issues, and changes within the college and community. Provides or coordinates training for new ABE/HSC teachers, volunteers, and staff. Coordinates ABE/HSC teaching assignments. Maintains ABE/HSC records. Selects and orders instructional materials; and continues to develop the curriculum for ABE/HSC. Serves as a resource person for ABE/HSC staff. Provides professional development opportunities for ABE/HSC staff. Assists with planning and operation of staff meetings, in-services and other professional development opportunities. Oversees the maintenance of accurate records, assessments, post assessments, benchmark attainment and other reports as required by the Iowa Department of Education and grant funders. Prepares statistical reports as required. Meets with students as needed for goal setting, disciplinary measures and class placement. Assists assessment staff with new student placement. Assists in staffing, providing customer service, opening, and/or closing ABE/HSC/ELL office area as needed. Makes recommendations on budgetary needs for ABE/HSC program. Develops and oversees ABE/HSC grants as needed. Serves as a positive voice to community groups about ABE/HSC. Clears all advertising, flyers, and written communication with Director or HCC Public Relations Staff. Attends meetings with community and college groups as needed. Teaches or substitute teaches ABE/HSC classes as needed. Oversees new or special grant-funded literacy programs as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field. Equivalency of at least one year teaching experience required. Ability to coordinate applications, reports and programs for grant funded projects. Highly developed skills in interpersonal relations. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously. Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications. Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (faculty, staff, students, and general public). Ability to work collaboratively with staff from multiple departments. Preferences include teaching certification; experience teaching adult basic education or HSC preparation classes; experience with low-literacy level adults and/or high school equivalency programming; experience collecting, interpreting, tracking and reporting data; experience with grant reporting; ability to develop and maintain records for educational programming needs; knowledge of instructional strategies and materials for teaching adult basic education; experience planning and providing staff meetings and professional development; and experience hiring and supervising staff.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
