Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Casting Development Engineer for the John Deere Foundry located in Waterloo, Iowa you will:

  • Bring a casting design into production through the design and development of production tooling to net desired product fit form and function
  • Optimize casting designs and quantitatively determine manufacturability
  • Assess capability and design castings from current weldment design
  • Optimize casting designs to reduce production cost
  • Work within a multi-disciplined team to improve quality of parts on top action list
  • Coach and teach others on the casting development process

What Skills You Need

  • 5yrs Green Sand Molding of Gray and Ductile Iron Castings
  • 3 yrs of Modeling experience
  • Demonstrated understanding rules for shrink factors for tooling design
  • Ability to Interpret Casting CMM Layout Results
  • Ability to put together cost estimates for tooling builds
  • 3 yrs experience Gating Design
  • Demonstrated capability of Simulation Software Review, ie Magmasoft

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience with other than green sand iron casting processes (no bake, lost foam, investment, high pressure die casting), and materials (Steel, Aluminium, High SiMo, CGI)
  • Manufacturing Machining & Assembly Process Knowledge
  • Experience Coaching/Mentoring casting development engineers
  • Experience modeling with Creo
  • Magma gating system simulation

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology discipline
